Urine samples that are not clear. Improper labeling, samples that are suspect for adulteration or dilution.

Clinical Info:

The assay results distinguish between positive and negative specimens:
- positive indicating specimens contain detectable methadone metabolites;
- negative indicating specimens do not contain methadone metabolites, or the methadone metabolites are present in concentrations below the cutoff level for this assay.
-The cut-off level of detection for this assay is 300 ng/mL.

Additional Information:

Detect the presence of methadone metabolites in urine. This is a screening test and will reflex to confirmatory testing where indicated.

Sample Collection:

Clean catch or catheterized urine in a clean and sterile container with no preservatives.

Test Limitations:

This methadone assay is for screening purposes only. The test will reflex to a more specific method if the screening test is positive, and reflex is indicated.
1. The assay is designed for use only with human urine.
2. A positive result from the assay indicates the presence of methadone or its metabolites but does not indicate or measure intoxication.
3. Other substances and/or factors not listed (e.g., technical or procedural errors) may interfere with the test and cause false results.
4. Interpretation of results must take into account that urine concentrations can vary extensively with fluid intake and other biological variables.
5. Immunoassays that produce a single result in the presence of a drug and its metabolites cannot fully quantitative the concentration of individual components.

Specimen Handling Instructions:

The urine should be collected in a clean, dry container. Urine collected at any time of day may be used. Urine specimens containing visible particles should be centrifuged, filtered, or allowed to settle to obtain a clear specimen for testing.
